Physical image backup from Big Sur enables server-level protection backed by trusted data security and centralized backup and restore, enabling partners to offer sophisticated business protection with one platform.

Supported Operating Systems

Supported Backup to Disk Locations

  • Any NTFS based file system
  • USB 3 is preferred for Local USB Backup
  • iSCSI is preferred for NAS
  • Filesystem must not be set as “sparse”


Login to the web portal @ and click on Manage Accounts and Computers


Find the PC or Server you want to Image and Click it.


Click on the Backup Tab, then click on Add Backup Set.

Now click on Images, and Give it a name and click next. If you don’t see “Images” The server may not be supported with the Image Level Backup. Call Charles to Verify.
Pick your volumes and hit next.

Set your schedule and hit next.

Add your UNC or Path and click Next. Note: Needs to be NTFS based. Some NAS may not work. USB = Ok, should be USB 3.0 or iSCSI based.


Confirm your job, and hit create.

You now have an Image Based backup

Charles Love has been working in the IT Support and Consulting field since 1997. Before IT, Charles was working on his FAA A&P Airline Mechanic Certification. Charles’ first managed services position was in 2001 on Farmingdale, Long Island, back then MSP’s were called Solution Providers. Throughout his career he has provided valuable consulting to various types of customers and technologies throughout North America. Charles started out as the first Big Sur full-time hire of the now rapidly increasing technical support team. As Director of Service and Cloud Operations, Charles’ role includes developing new and streamlined processes for all of Big Sur’s offerings and leading Big Sur’s highly talented team of engineers.

Charles’ daily focus is the operational duties mostly revolving around back end systems that our customers use. These systems include our HelpDesk, NOC Services, RMM Tools, Billing Systems, Backup Systems, Home Grown Cloud Farm, and various other customer facing cloud based products. In 2014 Charles was voted into the CompTIA Managed Services Executive Council. The goal of the Managed Services Community is to advance the managed IT services industry through the promotion of best practices, the development of tools and templates and the refining of educational tracks for MSPs.

Charles has also been invited to be a keynote speaker for many industry events. You can often find him at Managed Services Trade-shows participating on panels, or being involved in interactive sessions.

With a passion for customer support, you can count on Charles for caring about your infrastructure from the desktop to the cloud. Most people know Charles as the brains behind Big Sur’s latest technology solutions but what most people don’t know is that he moonlights as the Cub Master for his son’s Cub Scout Pack.
