What a great year we had and what a great party to celebrate
the year!
Big Sur Technologies celebrated a very successful year by
throwing a fabulous luau at the Dolphin Beach Resort in St.
Pete Beach. Great tropical food, a raffle to benefit the
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, and an amazing performance
of Hawaiian and Tahitian dancing by a renowned dance team
- the night was amazing!
In place of a traditional Christmas Holiday party that would
have people stuffed in their rented tuxedos and ladies in
their best cocktail dresses, Big Sur Technologies took the
holiday party theme and spun it into a casual tropical festival
of food, fun and dance. The doors at the Dolphin Beach Resort
opened at 7PM for a tropical cocktail hour. A tropical buffet
dinner followed and everyone enjoyed island delights ranging
from Salmon Cucumber Canapes, Coconut Shrimp and Crabmeat
Mushroom Caps to Seafood Pasta Salad, Pineapple Glazed Spare
Ribs and Baked Mahi Mahi with "Dirty" Brown Rice.
As everyone enjoyed dinner, they were entertained by traditional
Hawaiian dance that was performed by three lovely dancers
from the renowned Karina's Dance Studio. After the performance,
Sam Sandusky, CEO, welcomed the guests and spoke briefly
about the successes of 2006. He thanked the generous sponsors
of the event and then gave out three "Maholo" awards
as a token of deep gratitude to APC, HP, and Messaging Architects.
He then recognized managers Don Zurbrick (Sales) and Charles
Love (Technical Services) for their exceptional devotion
to the company. Both managers proceeded to give out awards
for excellence to the top sales executive and the top engineer.
Gerard Roy was recognized for his top sales revenue performance
and Brad Wagner was recognized as a "Rising Star" in
the engineering sector.
The party was then cranked up another notch as the dance
team came out again and demonstrated another favorite style
- Tahitian dance. This fast paced, drum inspired, routine
got everyone fired up and several volunteers were bought
on to the floor for a wild and hilarious rendition of amateur
Tahitian dancing. After everyone unlocked their dislocated
hips, the floor was opened to another stunt show... they
all enjoyed an island version of limbo!
Soon thereafter, the charity raffle was held to benefit
the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay. Big Sur raised
over $1300 and raffled off many great prizes, some of which
were five iPods, two digital cameras, a 42" LCD TV,
and a two night stay at the Dolphin Beach Resort.
All in all, the party was a big hit. Everyone went home
with memories of a successful 2006 as well as a luau bash
that would not be forgotten soon.
